A new 3dprint brazilian company liked my model and printed a test. Needs clean up yet.
They’re testing model resolutions and sizes.

Hey folks!
I’m working on my free time on my new sculpting demoreel, to be released in january 2010. I hope I can finish in time
So, as a start, I’ve modelled this guy, called something like “don’t mess with me”.
the process was very simple.
I did the base mesh in max, sculpted the head first.
I must say thanks to Grassetti, a great friend and a fantastic artist too, that gave me some tips about this.
Bruno Melo and Pixote must be here too, my friends that helped me with this character….
this gang of 4, are studying together, giving tips and nice laughts during the free time.
So, after the head modelling, I blocked in zbrush the hole character, with a simple mesh…
Then, I droped in 3dmax and re-modelled everything, with some loops and overall forms.
Zbrush again, detailed and sculpted.
Xnormal for the normal maps and occlusion, zbrush and photoshop for the texture, 3dsmax for render/mental ray.
Like always, I’m studying anatomy in my free time….
So, here we have some more studies that I did this last month
I’m working as a freelancer too. Most of my works are based on character modelling and sculpture.
Maybe next update I can show you some of work that I’m doing this days….
I really wanna say thanks for everybody that sent me some really cool e-mails….It’s always good have a nice talking.
So, the music award this time goes to Marcelo Camelo. Awesome and beautiful songs. The solo cd is insane!
As always, if you have some job or just want to say hello,
feel free to drop an e-mail to
glauco.longhi@gmail.com
Thank you so much guys!
Till next time

Hello folks…
I’m studying more anatomy than ever.
I’m seeing everybody like mini-ecorches these days….
So, with the help of some of my books, that you can see at my “new LIBRARY“, I’m doing a lot of exercises, without details.
Just trying to understand some of the principal muscles and diferent shapes of the human face.
It’s amazing. There’s billions of expressions, volumes, shapes in the face.
Here we go with my last exercises.
I’m trying not to spend more than one day in anyone of them.
Actually, I did each one in about 40 minutes, but the point is sculpt without time, focusing on the anatomy.
They are coming fast maybe, but nevermind. As exercises, I try to just sculpt, have fun and study.
References are beeing used all the time.
I using drawings, pictures, sculptures to do this.
I received some e-mails asking me about the workshop that I did here in Brazil last month.
Yeah, I was amazing guys!
Thank you for the nice words and comments there. I hope I can do another one in a short period of time….
I really like to “teach” and talk about my studies, it’s always a pleasure!
I was there with Zbrush and some of my clay studies.
The important thing that I tried to say is…if you wanna be a figurative modeller/sculptor, study anatomy.
I said this like 30 times in a hour, kind of funny, but I really believe in anatomy.
Ow, I said one important thing about Talent x Dedication. Some people there asked me if I was always connected to art and etc, and my answer was NO! I used to skateboard all my day, during 10 years of my life. As I say in my bio, Art just appeared to me in 2006, so, there’s no secret. (Well, if you know one, please tell me
). You just have to study more and more. Really spend your time thinking and living art. (actually I’m doing this and I don’t know if it works, but let’s go)
My jukebox has to say thanks to Mister man in black, a.k.a. Johnny Cash. It’s amazing how Cash could transfer so emotion with just his voice.
Well, More updates to come…I’m working almost full time on my new demoreel, 2010.
I’m working as a freelancer too, so, if you have something for me, just let me know!
As always, it’s my pleasure receive some good emails and talk a little bit with you guys.

Cya soon folks

“Well Guys, I finished this Superman bust based on the great art of Alex Ross.
Life size, scale 1/1. I would like to share it with you, before making another big post and updating my website with new estuff”

Hello guys.
Here I am changing my website again….yeah, I don’t know why, but I’m always feeling that I need to re-write or re-organize my stuff.
I’m starting this on a diferent way, trying to find the definitive way to show my stuff.
I’m studying hard anatomy as always, and I’m realizing that I’m improving my skills, but for sure I need to study twice that I’m doing.
Working with Oil based clay like Chavant and DimClay (brazilian oil-clay), is always good to get some nice tricks and points of view that just zbrush is hard to get. I’m trying to focuse on the shapes before going to detail, since I think is the most important thing on a sculpture.

Looking at some great sculptures and studies from the Masters Miguel Angelo, Bernini, Rodin, we can see that we don’t need detail to show what we are trying to say with the character and the piece.
I really appreciatte some words of John Brown, when he talks about the architecture of the soul.
Another one that I would like to invite you is Richard Macdonald. One of the best sculptors that I’ve ever seen. A lot of really nice poses and amazing anatomy….
I also would like to invite you to come to the third 3d brazilian workshop, September/6/2009, Campinas, São Paulo.
I’ll be there talking about zbrush and showing some clay sculptures too.

I really wanna say thanks to my friends that are helping me a lot with my works and studies, some of then you must know, or not, but you can check out at my blog roll. Rafael Grassetti, Dado Almeida, Tito Petri, Vinicius Fragata, Alex Oliver, my wife that suports me everyday talking about sculpture and etc, and everyone that enjoy my work.
I really wanna say thanks to Selwy that gave me some good words and tips some months ago.
I wanna say thanks for Andrew Bird bowl’s of fire, one of the best bands I’ve ever seen. I’m listening to this almost everyday, so, keep it up the good music dude!
I really hope that you have a great time around here, and of course, feel free to send me an email with some questions, advices, talk something or just say hello.

I really like to use real life models, but they are quite expensive, so I’m always buying books, like Virtual Pose.
This model was based on Pablo.
Almost 4 days of work, trying to see and sculpt the volumes on the right way.
I used some anatomy books too, just to check it.
Before this entire study, I did some sketchs focused on some specifics parts of the human body.
It’s hard to understand everything at the first, and I’d like to say that I didn’t get the point, but nevermind, let’s study and rock.
And here we go with my first real study of anatomy.
The beautiful David done by Miguel Angelo was my choice.
I know that is not a perfect likeness, but between that, it was very good for me, know that anatomy is much more than some big muscles.
A simple and complex pose at the same time, and we can see that the human body is wonderful. The curves, volumes, shapes, everything has space, a complex mass intersected with some muscles, bones, and everything that we already know.
After anatomy, we can bring some ideias from our head to the clay/zbrush.
This monsters are based on my mind or some good artist that made a good concept/sculpture.

Ok guys, we are trying to study hard anatomy and sculpture, but we can’t forget that we are working with Computer Graphics, and it’s very difficult work just with sculpture. And if you can, probably you’ll have to know about the workflow and pipeline of the production.
So, I did some renders with the purpose of study again, understand the materials, shaders, textures, polycount, and so on.
Those are quite old, but nevermind. Again, the study of the values was the important thing to study at that time.
check it out.
If you have some questions, feel free to drop me some message ok?
Here, I worked on max to construct my base mesh, jumped to zbrush, sculpt, transpose and back to max, with some normal maps, retopology and textures.
